Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

If you do not find answers to your questions here, please feel free to contact us.

Q: What is a typical workout like?
A: First, there are no typical workouts. We try to provide a different and fun workout each day. However, you can expect combinations that include running, calisthenics, plyometrics, and resistance training. We also do obstacle and confidence courses, mini-adventure races, and team challenges. The workouts are challenging and each is designed with specific goals. For example, some workouts are strength workouts and some are muscular endurance workouts, and they may target specific muscle groups or they may be whole body workouts. In addition, different workouts may target specific energy systems.

Q: How far will I have to run?
A: The run distances may vary from ½ mile to 3 miles. However, we will try to accomodate whatever your fitness level and ability.

Q: What do I bring to class?
A: Your running shoes and appropriate workout clothing for whatever weather we encounter. It is an all-weather class. Some of our clients find it helpful to wear workout gloves. We also encourage bringing a sense of humor and a good attitude. In addition, since you might get dirty, we encourage you to always keep a towel or two in the car.

Q: Do I need to buy a yoga mat?
A: No. Our philosophy is this: you came to workout outside. We want you to be able to experience nature first-hand. No mats.

Q: Is this a Boot Camp?
A: That depends on your definition of a boot camp. We typically don't use that phrase. But, we will hold you accountable for showing up and getting a workout. We will provide ample motivation on an individual basis to ensure that you are being challenged. We will provide instruction while performing the exercise with you. Many of our activities have traits that are common to activities performed in military training centers of the U.S. Armed Forces. All of our workouts are designed to get you out of your comfort zone. We do provide occasional miltary-style physical training (PT) classes that incorporate regimental group exercises with the added benefit of team-building. These PT classes work particularly well when groups sign up together. Take the class and decide for yourself.

Q: Can you get me ready for a fitness test required by many law enforcement and fire department academies?
A: Absolutely. In fact, I have trained clients that have passed these types of tests with no problem.

Q: How do I pay?
A: You may pay by cash or a check made out to "Steve Curran."

Q: Will I lose weight if I sign up?
A: Losing weight is a very individual thing and it depends on several factors. However, if you attend all the workouts, and follow a sound nutritional intake of food, you should notice either a decrease in weight, or at least a decrease in fat and an increase in muscle mass. Although individual results vary, we have had many clients lose weight.
